Matalan "The Glamour Collection" Makeup - Primer and Foundation

At my local Matalan, their makeup has all been on sale for £1 a piece, so of course I had to pick something up! I hadn't heard anything about their face makeup lines so decided to try them out myself. I think the foundation is usually £6 and the primer is £9!

For the foundation, the packaging just has a coloured sticker on it which is meant to depict the shade you are getting, so I picked up 'nude' which I really wouldn't describe as nude or even close to the coloured dot. The foundation's packaging is quite useless and the mirror is on the flip side/underneath the foundation as the foundation tray? lifts up. The opening face which you would think would have a mirror has a distorted mirror that isn't useable?! The actual mirror is in a less than convenient place and in the base of the foundation there is a section you can store the makeup sponge which comes with it. The makeup sponge is quite good quality but unfortunately I lost it, typical!

Onto using the products. The primer consistency is okay, it comes out quite shimmery but as you can see in picture 3 once it is absorbed it doesn't really leave anything on the skin. On initial trying I thought I may be able to use it as a cheek highlight or something as it seemed shimmery and highlighting but once it's rubbed in it's quite pointless. It also has an odd smell to it like old school washing up liquid. In picture 4 you can see how it did leave a horrible shimmery mess on my hands, perhaps I wouldn't want that on my face!

In pictures 5 and 6 you can see how ridiculous the colour is next to my overly pale skin. Nude looked like the lightest colour they did, although it's difficult to determine by their coloured sticker labels! It is a really nice creamy foundation, but is way too heavy for me. It's very buildable so it may be good if you're looking for that type of coverage and don't have pale skin like me this may be a good bargain for you.

My problem is I could feel it sitting on my skin and using a setting powder made it feel worse! I'm used to using Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation, this is a cream foundation so they are very different! I think I will keep this for filming videos in over exposed light for some serious coverage but that's about it. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend these, especially seeing as they're charging more than some drugstore brands for their makeup, but for £1 each, they're worth a go! I have heard the nail varnishes are horrible. I also saw lipglosses (which I think are quite difficult to mess up on and would probably be worth a pound), a few eyeshadow kits, they do have a large range but it does seem very expensive for what you are getting. I'm rambling now, I hope this has informed someone :) xo

Wetnwild Brilliant Lipsticks

"This is enriched with conditioning ingredients of Vitamins A & E for moist-looking lips. Provides an intense colour and long lasting luster. With a soft, hydrating texture it creates chic, shimmering lips. Features and easy, superbly comfortable application and effective colour release."

I picked these up the other day in Bodycare in a set of 3 for around £2. The really have an incredibly rich, creamy formula which is perfect for me as lipsticks always dry out my lips.

The lipstick on the right is such a beautifu bright pink which wouldn't pick up as well as I wanted to. From left to right the colours are E81510, E81505 and E81514. When I was looking them up online they seem to have proper names now, I think I have Fuschia Pink, Ferrari Red and maybe Scarlet. These may have been sold cheap as they're perhaps old packaging.

They're a complete bargain and I'm very happy with them since they deliver such an intense colour for 75p-ish per lipstick! You can also find them online for about £1.50 a lipstick xo
